Writing a low carbon infrastructure report

Writing for print

Polon helped the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) write its latest State of the Nation report, on low carbon infrastructure.

Our copywriters worked on ICE's low carbon infrastructure report

Accessible and authoritative copywriting

The goal was to achieve the accessible and authoritative tone that would make an impact with everyone from politicians and civil servants to regulatory bodies and the media. So we made sure the language hit home without using jargon and we worked to tight deadlines in preparation for the launch of the report.

Released in November 2009, State of the Nation: Low Carbon Infrastructure looked at how the UK can minimise carbon emissions associated with the infrastructure it needs for everyday life — the energy, water, transport and waste networks. Over the course of five months, ICE took verbal and written evidence from more than 50 organisations involved in planning, designing, operating and maintaining infrastructure.

Our copywriters supported the ICE's communications team, writing and editing copy to keep the report consistent through the rounds of revisions.
