We created and ran a writing workshop for Arup’s UK, Middle East and Africa consulting marketing team.

With lots of new people joining the team, they wanted to focus on both writing skills and the specifics of the firm’s style and tone of voice, which we know well after nearly a decade working with the brand.

Over five hours of interactive sessions, we showed participants some tricks of the trade and got everyone involved using quick quizzes and writing exercises.

Starting with the basics, the team discovered how to avoid common grammar mistakes. They then practised applying Arup’s style and tone of voice before taking a critical look at their own writing and identifying how to improve it.

After lunch, they practised interview skills – because a lot of marketing content relies on getting the right information from technical specialists across the firm. And then they brought everything together in a final piece of writing.
