Instead of sending cards to our clients at Christmas each year, we support a charity working to improve lives through books, reading and writing. This year, we’ve chosen Read Easy, who want all adults in the UK to have the literacy skills they need to fulfil their potential and live life to the full.

Imagine if you couldn’t fill in a job application or read a story to your children? Being unable to read can have a devastating impact. Read Easy will help any adult who either can’t read or who lacks confidence with reading, for whatever reason. And it’s completely free.

They’re an umbrella body supporting volunteers to set up groups in their communities to offer reading coaching for adults. A reader and their coach meet for half an hour at a time, twice a week, at local reading venues. Some groups also provide coaching online or over the phone. Coaching is provided through the phonics-based reading programme Turning Page, published by the Shannon Trust.
