Helping The Reading Agency to open doors and bring joy

It will soon begin to look a lot like Christmas. And once again this year, we’re donating to charity instead of sending cards or emails to our clients.

The charity we've chosen is The Reading Agency. It's on a mission to empower people of all ages to read. Working with public libraries, prisons, hospitals and other community settings, it reaches over two million people a year.

This is vital work. Reading is at the heart of so much in life, from learning new skills to developing empathy. Want to better manage your health and wellbeing? Reading can help with that. Want to make friends? Reading can help with that too – and a whole lot more. As The Reading Agency puts it, reading opens doors and brings joy.

I’ve seen this first-hand at my local library. This year my son was among a group of proud kids receiving medals for taking part in The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge. If the charity can tear kids away from all the distractions of modern life to read six books over the course of the school holidays, just imagine what else it could do – with enough support – through its many different programmes.
